The Associations Between the Mothers` Internet Iinformation Usage Patterns and Care-giving Behaviors for Their Kindergarten-aged Children

Abstract
Objectives: This study was carried out to identify the relationships between the mothers¡¯ internet health information uses and their care-giving behaviors for their children among the mothers with children in infancy.

Methods: To achieve the goal of this research, we have carried out the survey on the total of 248 mothers of
kindergarten children in Gyeonggi-do area, And T-test, Analysis of variance, Simple correlation analysis, Multiple regression analysis were used to analyse the date with SPSSWIN 17.0.

Results: 1. Health care behaviors-related factors from among general characteristics were statistically significant depending on the degree of economic levels of the household(F=5.072, p=.016), occupation of the mother(F=2.068, p=.040) and health status of the children(F=6.651, p=.002).
2. Health care behaviors-related factors from the use of internet health information were statistically significant depending on the degree of child care/health informer (F=2.063, p=0.041), frequency of the usage(F=5.803, p=.003 ), the number of sites(F=19.400, p=.000), methods of research(F=3.668, p=.027) and information providers(F=7.952, p=.000).
3. It is found out that there is medium level of positive relationship(C.C.=.434, p=.000) between the usage of internet health information and health care behaviors. The higher the quality of internet health information is, the more health care behaviors increase.
4. It is found out that the information(¥â=.294, p=.000), the numbers of site(¥â=.251, p=. 000), information providers(¥â=.153, p=.043), economic level of the household(¥â=.147, p=.007) and child¡¯s health status(¥â=.125, p=.021) have effect on health care behaviors.

Conclusion: The explanatory strength of general characteristics and the usage of internet health information on health care behaviors was 38.3%. It can be assumed that the higher economic level is, the better child¡¯s health status is, If an expert information provider and search the Internet information is accurate and up-to-date and reliable information, the better health care behaviors can be achieved.
